Winter Fun...

I'm convinced that God wants this new year, 2008, to be our greatest year yet for him!  We're in a teaching series at Merge on Wise Choices...it's been cool to hear from God on why walking wise is a good thing and how exactly you can do that.  We do have some great things coming up in the next few months too.  Our High School Winter Retreat, called Like No Other, is Feb. 1-2.  This overnight retreat is going to be run and impactful!  Hope to see you there!  Our v... New This Fall...the 4C's Cafe

Well, Merge kicked off and it's going great! If you haven't plugged in yet, it's not too late. Every Wednesday, from 6:50-8:30pm in the Avenue...youth in grades 6-12 gather for worship, a message, then break out into cell groups. It's been a powerful time! The 4C's Cafe kicked off this fall. It is the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month. This cafe, in the Avenue coffeeshop, goes from 7:30-11:30pm. You can come and hang out with friends, enjoy good food and coffee, and bring your lapto... Haiti, August 2007

I just got back last week from 11 days in Haiti.  This was my official time away from the office, and it was exactly what I needed for my "vacation."  Just like during Urban Plunge, I had lots of time to connect with God.  I stayed in Port au Paix, Haiti on the northwest coast...where I had lived several years ago.  I stayed at a children's home right on the ocean.  During my time there, I had to look into the face of alot of brokenness...the poverty of the ... Urban Plungers...week six!

Urban Plunge 2007 was a huge success!  When it was all said and done, 175 students and leaders had responded to the challenge to BE THE DIFFERENCE in our own city, Dayton this summer.  The main thing I saw was change, transformation happening for the good!  Students and leaders were changed as they connected with God; faced brokenness; and served others.  The ministry sites looked different after groups had been through.  Trash had been picked up; gardens planted; hop... It's been a time of finales here.  This weekend we will honor graduates in main worship.  It's been a great year!  I'm excited to close this school year, then run into the summer of Urban Plunge, WAC, and more.  Be sure to check out our summer class guide and get involved!  Be the Difference this summer!

Another New Orleans Mission Trip Team...Leaving Soon!

For the next month or so we are going to be talking about why God calls us to take His light and love to the streets and how we do that.  To share your faith with someone else.  To share about what God is doing in your life with another.  Why should you?  How do you even do it?

This coming weekend, March 9-10th is our Winter Retreat for High School Students.  I'm excited for all that God is going to do!  The theme is based around My Space....tying it in to how our space is our life.  And we have GREAT responsibility with the life we've been given.  God calls us to a pure and holy life.  To honor Him and each other by our lives.... but do we?  Often not....because it can be challenging...to go against the crowd.  To say no when ever...
