Someone on this road trip may think that first they need to decide if there is a God, then try to figure out who Jesus is. Something that may be easier and more exciting is to do it in the reverse order.
You may find that when they deal with the person of Jesus (or what Jesus taught), they find the answers to both questions.
Yes, and he came to earth in the human form of Jesus Christ. Jesus says in John chapter 16, verse 28, “First, I left the Father and arrived in the world; now I leave the world and travel to the Father."
Yes! Look at what he did to show that love: "This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. (John chapter 3, verses 16, 17).
Consider it this way... God is more concerned with a relationship with you, than what church you go to or if you call yourself Baptist, United Methodist or Catholic.
Jesus said in John chapter 14 verse 6 said, "I am the Road, also the Truth, also the Life. No one gets to the Father apart from me." According to Jesus’ teachings the only way to have a relationship with the one true God is through Jesus.
This may be a deal breaker with you. Maybe you think there are many ways to God, all faiths lead to God. This cannot be true; different faiths make different claims and disagree with each other on this point. Simply put, Jesus is the only true way to God.
Accept Jesus as your forgiver and your God. See John chapter 6, verse 40: “This is what my Father wants: that anyone who sees the Son and trusts who he is and what he does and then aligns with him will enter real life, eternal life.”
By following Jesus and by putting his teachings into practice in your relationships with God and other people. Matthew chapter 22, verses 37-40 says: “Jesus said, "'Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.' This is the most important, the first on any list. But there is a second to set alongside it: "Love others as well as you love yourself.' These two commands are pegs; everything in God's Law and the Prophets hangs from them."
The Bible says that until a person on this road trip to find God comes to believe the teachings of Jesus, he or she hasn't dealt with the issue that’s most important in starting a relationship with God.
Think about this: Jesus is the most important person in history. A poor preacher, the son of a common laborer but also was the Son of God, he changed world history.
If you are taking this search seriously how can you overlook him? Did you know that our calendars are based on the life and time of Jesus? Because of his life people split world history into two eras – “before him” and “after him” (BC and AD)
